What we do

The electrical work we get called for most.

Each links to its own page with the detail.

Rewiring

Full and partial rewires, planned so the house stays liveable, with cables chased in and made good. Tested and certified at the end, and notified as the Welsh regulations require.

Rewiring →

Consumer unit upgrades

A new board when yours genuinely needs one — not just because it is old or plastic. We will tell you which it is.

Consumer units →

EICRs & landlord checks

Electrical Installation Condition Reports for homeowners and landlords. In Wales a rented home needs one at least every five years.

EICR in Cardiff →

Emergency electrician

No power, a burning smell, a sparking socket or a breaker that will not reset. 24/7 across Cardiff and Caerphilly.

Emergency electrician →

Lighting & LED

Downlights, pendants, outdoor and security lighting, and LED upgrades that cut the running cost.

Lighting →

EV chargers

Home charge points installed neatly and safely, with the supply checked first so the charger and the house are not fighting over it.

Wales is different

Most electrical advice online is written for England.

A few things work differently here, and they change what you should be quoted for.

A kitchen socket is notifiable

England dropped kitchens and outdoor work from its notifiable list in 2013. Wales kept them, so adding a socket in a Cardiff kitchen needs signing off where the same job in Bristol does not. What counts as notifiable in Wales.

Landlords: every five years

Since December 2022 a rented home in Wales needs an EICR at least every five years, and a copy must reach the tenant within 14 days. EICRs in Cardiff.

A C3 still passes

C1, C2 and FI make a report unsatisfactory. A C3 is a recommendation and the report still passes — so a list of C3s is not, on its own, a reason to rewire. When a board really needs replacing.

24/7 emergency electrician

No power, a burning smell, a sparking socket? Ring now.

Day or night, the phone is on. We will talk you through making it safe while we are on the way — switching off at the consumer unit, keeping clear of anything hot or smelling of burning — and give you an honest arrival time on the phone.

  • While you wait
  • Switch off at the consumer unit if it is safe to reach — the main switch cuts everything.
  • Do not touch a socket or fitting that is hot, scorched or smells of burning.
  • Water near electrics? Keep clear and switch off at the board, not at the wall.
  • Power cut to the whole street? Ring 105 — that is the network, not your wiring.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What electrical work do you do?

Rewires, consumer unit upgrades, fault finding, EICRs and landlord safety checks, lighting, EV chargers and general electrical work, for homes and businesses across Cardiff, Caerphilly and the Vale.

Is the work certified?

Yes. Every job is tested and comes with the right certificate, and notifiable work is signed off under the Welsh building regulations, which cover more than England’s do — here is what counts as notifiable in Wales.

Do you do emergency call-outs?

Yes, 24/7. Complete power loss, a burning smell, a sparking socket or a breaker that will not reset — ring and we will talk you through making it safe and give you an honest arrival time.

My EICR has C3s on it. Does it fail?

No. C1, C2 and FI make a report unsatisfactory; a C3 is a recommendation and the report still passes. It is not, on its own, a reason to rewire or replace the board.

Does my old fuse board need replacing?

Not just because it is old. Age, a plastic enclosure or an unfamiliar brand are not reasons on their own. When a consumer unit genuinely needs upgrading explains what actually matters.
